I talk about my experience at MSP Springcon 2017! The show was great, and I got to try out a new focus for my table display, only talking to people about my books if they approach the table, and doing my best to get books into people’s hands. I also tried doing free sketches and getting people to sign up for my mailing list (more on that soon!)
I didn’t sell a lot of books, but I did get a lot of people to stop and check out the comic. The sketches were a lot of fun to do, and gave me a great opportunity to chat with people and give them my pitch. The trouble with the sketches is they still felt unrelated to Nextuus, and I wasn’t sure the best way to tie in that service to what I was there to do.

The pain of change
Been a while, but I do still make videos. Decided I wanted to talk about one of the things that’s happened to me during the pandemic. https://youtu.be/jszfaKP1Jsc
Woof. What a weird time to be alive.
Work has closed to the public starting tomorrow. We're being encouraged to use PTO. I probably will.
This has been quite a roller coaster of emotion. It's cut into my drawing time- drawing time has become worrying time.
Time to take some of that back, I think.
How are all of you holding up?
End of 2019 Nextuus Update
I want to start by saying I greatly appreciate all of you sticking with me and reading my comic, even though my updates have been sporadic. Special thank you to my patrons over on Patreon- it helps me more than you can know to have folks supporting me and letting me know in one way or another that they like what I’m creating and want me to keep at it. Because I’ve not been going to comic shows, and don’t currently have books in print, Patreon has become my primary income for the comic, and it’s been the only thing helping me keep the lights on. So again, thank you so much, my patrons!
That brings up another thing: the
Priorities (video)
In today’s video I talk about my struggles dealing with shifting priorities and changes in how I handle/approach my creative endeavors.
Thank you all for watching, and for your continued support! It means the world to me that you would give me and my stories some of your time.

D'aww. I'm sorry to hear that sales at the show was a little shaky, but I'm glad that you hammered through it! From looking at what you showed of the table setup, it seems like you did a pretty good job of focusing it towards what you intended to sell: if I was passing by it would've been clear to me that your sales were based largely on your own series.
Even if you didn't make a lot of money from the show (or ended up in 600$ of debt, like I did for planet *nervous laugh*), I think there is something to be said for perseverance and the fact that you are consistent with pushing nextuus and seeing if there are any new readers who would be interested in it. I know a lot of people who have put most of thier online time into web comics, but if you see them at a show, it's not what they're actually pushing out of fear (or ease of selling fan creations of someone elses IP... *looks away like the asshole she is*)
I have yer' back Hotka, and even with the rough shows I really like these TC/self-reviews that let me see you working through the various levels of problem solving while being a vendor/artist and how it translates from one show to the next.
