I talk about my experience at MSP Springcon 2017! The show was great, and I got to try out a new focus for my table display, only talking to people about my books if they approach the table, and doing my best to get books into people’s hands. I also tried doing free sketches and getting people to sign up for my mailing list (more on that soon!)

I didn’t sell a lot of books, but I did get a lot of people to stop and check out the comic. The sketches were a lot of fun to do, and gave me a great opportunity to chat with people and give them my pitch. The trouble with the sketches is they still felt unrelated to Nextuus, and I wasn’t sure the best way to tie in that service to what I was there to do.

D'aww. :( I'm sorry to hear that sales at the show was a little shaky, but I'm glad that you hammered through it! From looking at what you showed of the table setup, it seems like you did a pretty good job of focusing it towards what you intended to sell: if I was passing by it would've been clear to me that your sales were based largely on your own series.

Even if you didn't make a lot of money from the show (or ended up in 600$ of debt, like I did for planet *nervous laugh*), I think there is something to be said for perseverance and the fact that you are consistent with pushing nextuus and seeing if there are any new readers who would be interested in it. I know a lot of people who have put most of thier online time into web comics, but if you see them at a show, it's not what they're actually pushing out of fear (or ease of selling fan creations of someone elses IP...   *looks away like the asshole she is*)

I have yer' back Hotka, and even with the rough shows I really like these TC/self-reviews that let me see you working through the various levels of problem solving while being a vendor/artist and how it translates from one show to the next.
