Gundam 40k by NyQuilDreamer Gundam 40k by NyQuilDreamer
Did this for a contest in the Chapter Approved group.

I don't know if people still complain about this or not, but ages ago when the Tau army came out for Warhammer 40k, a lot of people complained that their battlesuits looked too 'anime' or 'gundam-like'.

So here we see a Tau diplomat working out an order with an Alliance officer from Gundam Wing.

This was a lot of fun, I've never drawn a mobile suit before!

(In case you don't get the joke, here's a ref of a Tau Crisis Suit, that people complained looked too much like a Gundam: [link] )

Characters are not mine, I just drew the picture!

Not really I hate them. They feel out of place in 40k to me with all their mechs, but then again they are somewhat necessary to have in 40k. But come they advanced pretty damn fast if you ask me.

Yeah-- Their fluff has always felt a bit... shoehorned. Like 'Oh, crap- how do we explain they have more advanced tech than even the Eldar?'

'...uh... Hyper-evolution?'

Yeah if they didn't have that I would like them more. It just feels lazy to me, they could do so much with them and they didn't. I would accept hyper evolution if they found elder or necron tech on their world studied it and used to help them advance.

Very mass effect like yes, but it makes sense. I can accept it.

Humanity has gone from having muskets, cannons and swords to laser guided missiles, light speed communication (Radio, laser etc.) and entire processors that can fit inside pills that you swallow.

That was accomplished all inside of 300 years, easily.

The Tau, have had 5000 years roughly.

If it were not for the Dark ages (real life), we would almost call ourselves a near post scarcity society.

Do not blame the Tau for their elongated Tech-up. They should be more advanced if you ask me.

Sheesh.

Alright soldier if you know what's good for you and the Alliance, you'll take out you sidearm when the blue skin isn't looking and shoot it in the back of the head.

It's the chest.

And people don't really complain about it anymore. It's more a subject of humor these days.

There was a funny bit in the Superior Defender Gundam Force show, where these super-deformed Leos were made from enchanted dice, and the enchantment was so weak that we'd see them tripping over rocks and hitting the ground and turning back into dice.

What, warhammer 40K look Gundam like? I do not believe it. Gundam, at least the one's I've seen, always had simple and elegant designs, while WH40K tended to be bulky, excessively detailed and overall looked like a guy wearing a suit made out of magnets walked through the kitchen section at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

It kinda makes sense with the Chaos Marines, but when everybody gets in on the game, sometimes it gets a little tiresome.

Agreed. That's one reason I really like the Tau-- Overall their range is very sleek and pretty spartan as far as bells and whistles are concerned. Doesn't mean people don't find ways to clutter the crap out of them, though ;)
